St Andrew’s church, Pau, and the church at St John the Baptist, Mazères were recently delighted to host a visit by the choir from St Mary’s, Nottingham, where chaplain Christopher Harrison had formerly been vicar. The choir, which was directed by John Keys, presented a concert in each of the churches and led the singing at the morning Eucharist at St Andrew’s on 29th June. The chaplaincy arranged a welcome reception in St Andrew’s, which was followed by a convivial meal at a local restaurant. Choir and church members alike also enjoyed wine-tasting at a château near Mazères, followed by a barbeque meal at the church.
The success of this memorable visit was due to a great team effort on the part of all concerned, and many people who would not normally attend church were attracted to both churches by the opportunity to hear music of the highest standard.
Christopher Harrison, Chaplain
