It was a chilly day, but the church was warm and welcoming as the congregation, ecumenical colleagues, chaplains and friends from around France, UK and Belgium, celebrated the licensing of Reverend Vivian Sockett as chaplain of Christ Church Lille.
Following the fire in Christ Church earlier this year, the service was held in the Protestant church, led by Acting Archdeacon Ben Harding: another reason to celebrate, as this year marks 25 years since the Reuilly agreement between the Anglicans and Protestants was signed. The ecumenical relations in Lille are particularly close.
A joyful and thoughtful service was followed by a vin d’honneur.
