Rev’d David McLeod, Area Dean North-West France and Chaplain, Christ Church Brittany
David moved with his family to Brittany in May 2024, to become Chaplain to Christ Church Brittany and the first Area Dean of North West France. He writes:
“The people of Brittany have been so welcoming. The beautiful and diverse landscape is enhanced by the love of culture and community to be found here. It is wonderful to see what God is doing in people’s lives and how the church is making a difference”.
His role as chaplain includes serving four worship centres in Ploërmel, Redon, Rostrenen and Huelgoat, helping people to grow as disciples, building community and strengthening the good relationships with local churches. Supporting, growing and connecting local chaplaincies is a key part of being Area Dean. David is currently exploring opportunities for new Christian Communities and English-speaking Congregations in Normandy, Brittany and the Vendée.
Before moving to France, David served as Newbury Area Dean in Oxford Diocese. He has many years’ experience with New Wine, chaplaincy in education and ecumenical collaboration. Prior to full-time ministry, David worked for 10 years as an Occupational Therapist, specialising in Stroke, Brain Injury and Vocational Rehabilitation. He is married to Sue and enjoys life with their two children and two dogs. Brittany also provides opportunities for surfing, paddle boarding, walking and photography.
